Come To AWANA

I think you should come to AWANA. AWANA is a club that some churches have. I talk more about it in my last post. You will have fun there. We will play games like running around a circle. There are treats like Laffy Taffy. They also have prizes like candy bars. You will learn more about Jesus. We will sing songs like the AWANA theme song. There will be Bible reading and verses. Please come! :)

The AWANA Grand Prix

On March 2nd, my church had their AWANA Grand Prix. I designed my racing car after a solar car called The Solar Wing. You can win for design or speed. You get a trophy if you win 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. My car was #8 and called The Solar Wing. Gramma and Cathy came ( Papa was sick) to watch. I made two signs for Cathy and Elijah to hold. I went for speed. My car won every heat! My fastest speed and track record was 189.9 mph! I got 1st place for speed! It was really fun!

Me with my car and trophys.

Guinea Pigs

I like guinea pig because my aunt has one. Guinea pigs were found in South America. They were originally called cuy, but are known as cavy and guinea pig. People think the name comes from the money called a guinea. People also think the name comes from the place called New Guinea.

Guinea pigs come in many different sizes and colors. They also come in many styles of hair. They live four to five years. A guinea pig once lived for fourteen years. They have one to six babies. One had seventeen babies. Guinea pigs can become pregnant six to forty-eight hours after giving birth.

There are many interesting facts about guinea pigs. Peruvians consume an estimated sixty-five million guinea pigs each year! In Peruvian culture guinea pigs are so famous that there is a painting of Jesus and his disciples eating guinea pig meat. In South America people still eat guinea pig. When guinea pig is eaten it is served with corn beer. Everything I learned helps me know that guinea pigs were created by God

Davy Crockett & the Bears

Davy Crockett was a great bear hunter & pioneer. He owned eight dogs that helped him hunt bears. He once killed one hundred & five bears in one year! Another time he almost froze to death while crossing a river. He figured how to stay warm by climbing up a tree & sliding back down. Sometimes he would find some scratches from a bear's claw on a tree. Then he would look at the scratches so he could find if the bear went up or down the tree. He also killed forty seven bears in one month. He was the greatest pioneer of all!

The Foshay Tower

Me on the observation deck.
Reflection of Foshay Tower in another skyscraper as seen from the observation deck.

A few days ago Mommy, Caleb, Elijah, Grandma, and I went to the Foshay Tower. This skyscraper was built in 1929 and was built by Wilbur B. Foshay. This tower was built in honor of the Washington Monument and in the shape of the Washington Monument. It also was the tallest skyscraper in Minneapolis, Minnesota until the 1970's. The Foshay Tower has 32 levels including the observation deck. When we went up there it was cold! Some skyscrapers were really close! I had a great time!
