Guinea Pigs

I like guinea pig because my aunt has one. Guinea pigs were found in South America. They were originally called cuy, but are known as cavy and guinea pig. People think the name comes from the money called a guinea. People also think the name comes from the place called New Guinea.

Guinea pigs come in many different sizes and colors. They also come in many styles of hair. They live four to five years. A guinea pig once lived for fourteen years. They have one to six babies. One had seventeen babies. Guinea pigs can become pregnant six to forty-eight hours after giving birth.

There are many interesting facts about guinea pigs. Peruvians consume an estimated sixty-five million guinea pigs each year! In Peruvian culture guinea pigs are so famous that there is a painting of Jesus and his disciples eating guinea pig meat. In South America people still eat guinea pig. When guinea pig is eaten it is served with corn beer. Everything I learned helps me know that guinea pigs were created by God
